Arturo Lolli established Drapers in the historical centre of Bologna, benefiting from the experience gained in decades of work in the best textile companies. The company involved the whole Lolli family and a selected group of collaborators.
The sons Giovanni and Domenico took over the reins, the latter dedicating himself to research and the selection of fabrics, and the commercial side of the business. During these years, Drapers started to turn toward European markets and to make their first sales to tailors and companies specialised in made-to-measure.
The positive market results arising from the new wave of emerging Italian stylists encouraged Drapers to open themselves on an international level.
Celebrating 50 years of activity, Drapers moved to larger premises, transferring from Bologna’s old town to the commercial centre with it benefits in terms of logistics.
The Vitale Barberis Canonico S.p.A. group acquired 35% of Drapers shares, thus taking an enthusiastic part in the growing success of the Bolognese company, a collaboration which would be increasingly important in the following years.
The Vitale Barberis Canonico S.p.A. group acquired another 16% of Drapers, thereby increasing its shareholding to 51%.
Drapers inaugurated its first online shop for exclusive fabrics, using beautiful photos to make a wide range of textiles available, selected and archived on the basis of their characteristics and the occasions to wear them.
After 13 years’ collaboration, the Vitale Barberis Canonico S.p.A. group acquired the remaining 49% of Drapers, becoming sole proprietors.
2020 has been the year of company rebranding. After the launch of the new website, Drapers presents its new company logo for subsequent distribution along with the new bunches to the best tailors and stores throughout the world.
New, younger management have taken over, making an enthusiastic and decisive contribution to the Vitale Barberis Canonico team in a sense of increasing synergy.
