The opal is the national stone of Australia. In fact, just as is true for wool, Australia boasts the largest production in the world. The word “opal” has roots in Sanskrit, Greek and Latin, with the meaning always being “precious stone”.In nature, opals present with an infinite number of different colours: green, red, yellow, brown, black, and come in soft, embracing shapes.Just as the fascinating precious stone, the Drapers Opalis collection reveals a wide range of colours as the fabrics find their inspiration from the rainbow colours of the stone. The hand is also full-bodied and rounded and reminiscent of the feel of an opal.
